Governor conducts review meeting

Nongpoh: In a bid to fulfill the initiative of the central government under the programme ‘Transformation of Aspirational District’, Governor Ganga Prasad on Monday held a review meeting to monitor the progress of various developmental schemes of the State and Central Government being implemented by various line departments in Ri Bhoi District.
It may be noted, Ri Bhoi District was selected as one of the 115 districts in the country from 28 states under this special programme with the core area of focus on health & nutrition, education, agriculture & water resources, financial inclusion & skill development and basic infrastructure.
The review meeting was held at Circuit House, Nongpoh which was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah, local legislator, Mayralborn Syiem, Ri Bhoi Police Chief, S Thamar besides the EACs, ADCs and officers from various line Departments.
Speaking at the meeting, the Governor lauded the initiative of all the line departments for proper implementation of various government schemes towards all-round development of the district.
He also urged the officers to have an honest approach in performing their duties assigned by the government for the over-all development of the district and also to visit remote villages of the district to get first-hand knowledge of the various needs and requirements of the people in order to attain an inclusive growth in all spheres under the ‘Aspirational District’. 
After the meeting, the Governor also handed out M-tabs to meritorious students of Morning Star Secondary School. On the same day, the Governor also visited the Handloom Weaving Centers of Diwon village owned by various SHGs and Societies and also had an interaction with the local weavers on their product.Syiem also submitted a memorandum to the Governor for setting-up of a Common Facilititation Center (CFC) and construction of a two-lane road from Nongpoh to Umden, in which the Governor had assured to take-up the matter with the State and Central Government.While returning, the Governor also visited Marngar Lake, one of the popular tourist destinations of Ri Bhoi District.
