NIFT showcases project by graduates

SHILLONG: The graduating students of Fashion and Lifestyle Accessories and Fashion Management Studies Departments of National Institute of Fashion Designing (NIFT) showcased their graduation projects here in the city on Monday.
The presentation of the projects was followed with a panel discussion on the topic ‘Jobs of the Future in Retail, Fashion and Apparel’.
The panel discussion was led by Arnab Banerjee, Assistant Professor of Fashion Management Studies Department, and panelists — Dr. Basav Roy Chaudhary, Associate Professor, IIM Shillong (IT & Analytics), Augustine Reading, Managing Director, Nahan Business Solution Co.Ltd (PR China) and Ningtamba Rajkumar, Design Director, Raymonds.
During the discussion, Vohra enumerated as to how artificial intelligence helps in predicting future preferences of buyers and fashion enthusiasts on the basis of their past purchases and what is going on in the global fashion scene.
After the discussion, awards and certificates were given to Samishta Sharma for excelling in general management, Prathibha Bisht for her contribution to marketing and Sneha Chawala for merchandising.
On Tuesday, NIFT will also host Minister of Textiles Smriti Zubin Irani on its 7th convocation day where 65 students will be handed over graduation certificates to be followed by a fashion show.
