Assam Police receives FICCI Smart Policing Awards 2018

GUWAHATI : Assam Police has been awarded with the FICCI Smart Policing Awards 2018 at the annual conference on Homeland Security-Cyber Crime Management that held in New Delhi on May 31.

The Assam Police’s initiative of using IT enabled services in Police Stations through Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) was awarded under the category ‘Smart Police Station’ and it’s initiative for creation of Smart Protection Unit to provide fool proof safety and security, with the use of technology and manpower trained in soft skills was presented special jury award under the category ‘Other Policing Initiative’.

Additional DGP (Security), Harmeet Singh received the awards on behalf of Assam Police from the Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Statistics Vijay Goel.

While lauding the Assam Police for the achievement, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today emphasised on the need for the police force to be more people oriented and responsive. He also urged the state police to perform their duty with more dedication and commitment.

Chief Minister Sonowal also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his concept of Smart Police and vowed to transform Assam police as one of the best police forces in the country.

Noteworthy that Additional DGP (Security), Harmeet Singh today formally handed over the awards to Chief Minister Sonowal, who is also the Minister in-charge of Home Department.

Chief Secretary TY Das, Additional Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, DGP Kuladhar Saikia, Anil Kumar Jha, Special DGP, CID & CCTNS, ADGP Pallav Bhattacharjya, ADGP Mukesh Agarwalla, Principal Secretary (Home and Political) LS Changsan  and other senior of Home Department were present at the time of handing over the awards to the Chief Minister.
