Fuel station staff assaulted

TURA: Three employees of a petrol pump on the outskirts of Tura were assaulted by a group comprising members of local organisations following an altercation over delivery of fuel on Saturday morning.

According to police, three youth came to Rachel petrol station at Bokmagre, on the outskirts of Tura, at around 6 AM asking for fuel. An altercation took place in which one of the pump employees was punched on the face by the youth who soon after left the site.

Later, at around 10 AM, a large group of around 40 persons came to the petrol station and vandalized the place breaking glass windows and furniture.

Three employees of the station were assaulted and had to be treated at a hospital.

District police chief MGR Kumar who rushed to the site with a police force told The Shillong Times that the incident is being probed and round the clock security deployed at the site.
