SHILLONG: The State Youth wing of the United Democratic Party (UDP)  led by former MLA, Paul Lyngdoh on   Monday met the Chief Minister  and expressed its anguish over the fact that the  law and  order situation in the city was yet to improve.

Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chief  Advisor of the wing, Paul Lyngdoh said that there was a need to   push for the removal of   the residents of Sweepers Colony

He added that  the two categories i.e  employees and non employees who are residing there must be segregated  and while employees can be given quarters, the non-employees can be disbursed.

He also urged the Meghalaya Government to follow up on two proposals of construction of fly over and parking lot in the area which are pending with the Central Government .

According to Lyngdoh, normalcy in the town should be restored  and the persons who were involved in the initial skirmish  should be nabbed.

“If the situation is allowed to continue, people students and daily labourers will suffer,” he  said even as he expressed concern that people are moving in the city freely even with the imposition of curfew and imposition of curfew should be upheld in letter and spirit

When asked if he also subscribes to the view that agitation is sponsored , he said that such allegations needs to be corroborated with evidence  and until there was evidence, nothing could be said.
