SHILLONG: Activists of the FKJGP central body and North Khasi Hills unit on Wednesday caught a government ambulance (ML01 7311) at Umsning, Ri Bhoi, ferrying 13 passengers from Guwahati.
The FKJGP said driver Lester Marbaniang and vaccinator Clement Dkhar were in the vehicle with 13 passengers.
The driver revealed that Dr Manoj Basaiawmoit has asked them to pick up the passengers from Guwahati without any order from the Directorate of Health Services.
The FKJGP questioned the rationale behind using a government ambulance for private purposes.
The organisation expressed surprise at how a doctor had instructed the driver to fetch passengers in an ambulance and wondered if the DHS was aware of the incident.
They demanded an inquiry into the matter while raising suspicion on the style of functioning of the DHS. The federation has also warned others from bringing illegal migrants into the state.
