Army Chief visits troops posted on LAC in Arunachal frontier

GUWAHATI: The Chief of Army Staff  (COAS) General Bipin Rawat, visited forward areas of Spear Corps along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The Army Chief was accompanied by Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command and Lieutenant General Gopal R, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps.

The COAS visited Taksing and other forward areas in Arunachal Pradesh and reviewed the operational preparedness of the formations during his visit. The COAS was briefed on the prevailing security situation by the local commanders, according to Defence spokesman in Kohima, C Konwer.

He lauded the efforts of the soldiers for ensuring peace and tranquility and improving employment generation opportunities for the local population. He urged them to continue the good work in a professional manner. The Spear Corps besides undertaking extensive Counter Insurgency operations in the three North East States is also responsible for conduct of operations along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh.

The COAS expressed his satisfaction with the operational preparedness of Spear Corps.
