SHILLONG: Meghalaya DGP S B Singh continues to remain in office even as a Delhi-based business daily reported that he resigned on Monday.
The daily had reported that Singh was not happy with the state government’s plan to appoint former Meghalaya DGP Kulbir Krishan as the security advisor.
However, an official source said Singh continues to be in office and Krishan is yet to be appointed.
Earlier, the daily had reported that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma refused to accept Singh’s resignation and asked him to continue.
The tradition of appointing security advisor to the state government started with the Congress.
The erstwhile Congress-led MUA-II government had appointed former DGP Rajiv Mehta as the security advisor for a year.
The tenure of Singh will be till July 31 after he was given extension for three months from May.
