World Day against Child Labour observed in Resubelpara

TURA:  The World Day against Child Labour under the theme “Generation Safe & Healthy” was observed at Montfort Higher Secondary School, Resubelpara on Tuesday

The programme was organized by the District Legal Services Authority, North Garo Hills in which Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu was the Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Sadhu highlighted the importance of education in eradicating child labour. Remarking on Free and Compulsory education for all children below the age of 14 years as envisaged by the Constitution, Sadhu stated that every child is entitled for education which is one of his or her basic rights. He therefore advocated Education as a remedy for a peaceful and progressive society. While urging students to work hard and value education, he also advised them to abstain from negative influences of the society. 

During the programme, others who discussed issues concerning child labour and measures to mitigate it were ADC, AVD Shira, Superintendent of Police, Dr S R Marak and DCPO, S G Momin.
