South Shillong delegation to meet CM, defence minister

Shillong: A delegation of the Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee (MCIC) led by its chairman and South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman this week.
This decision was taken during MCIC meetings of the South Shillong municipal area and the Cantonment area on June 9 and 10.
The delegation will talk on various issues including the proposal to revert Garrison Ground to the state and its people under the guardianship of the Sports Department and the Laban Sports Club  especially keeping in mind the upcoming National Games to be held at Shillong in 2022. Other issues will include utilisation of unused land in the Defence area for building of parking lots, children parks, public toilets, community hall and other public amenities.
Shullai also discussed speedy implementation and timely completion of sanctioned schemes and requested various committees to follow up with the status of the schemes with official of various departments for the timely completion of the projects.
He also requested all the committees to submit their new proposals for developmental activities to be taken up by him from various state departments within their respective localities.
The meeting was attended by representative of the various Dorbar Shnongs, village councils, church committees, puja committees, mosque committees, ashram committees, Gurdwara committees, monastery committees, school committees, Mahila Committee, Seng Treilang ki Kynthei, clubs and societies along with the members of all 141 committees.
On the occasion, Shullai was felicitated for winning the Assembly election for the third consecutive term from the constituency.
