SHILLONG: Members of the FKJGP Mawlai circle on Thursday locked the office of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in protest against the recently declared results of the post of watchmen.
The federation pointed out that there were 6000 applicants and 3000 appeared for the written test from the state, out of which only one Khasi applicant made it to the final list of 57, raising suspicion on the entire selection process.
Further, the organisation asserted that all the 57 outsiders are from Rajasthan.
After the organisation locked the office, the Deputy General Manager of FCI, Meher Singh admitted that Ganakya Software Private Limited, the company that conducted the employment, was wrong in not
giving preference to candidates from Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura.
The organisation later met Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar who asked them to meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and seek the state government’s intervention in the matter.
