SHILLONG: Health Ministers from the northeastern states on Thursday apprised Union Health Minister JP Nadda of the shortage of faculty members at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) here, besides other problems in the sector.
Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek, along with his counterparts, urged Nadda to fill up the vacant post in different positions in the teaching and non-teaching departments.
The health ministers also raised the issue of derecognition of the post graduate course at NEIGRIHMS and requested Nadda for his intervention.
Nadda told the ministers that he was aware of the problems at NEIGRIHMS and assured that he would soon call a meeting of the NEIGRIHMS governing council.
He also urged the states for optimum use of resources that are being provided by the Centre. The state health ministers presented the issues that need to be addressed on a priority basis for bringing about desired changes in the health scenario of the states.
