Teachers’ body asks govt to release pending salary

SHILLONG: The All Garo SSA School Teachers’ Association held its general meeting on Saturday at SMELC building Tura Dakopgre regarding various problems faced by the SSA teachers in the state.
In the meeting, the association after detailed discussion resolved to resort to agitation, if the state government fails to fulfill their demands. The main demand is to release the pending salaries and arrears on or before June 26.
In a statement, the teachers’ body said the teachers from all over Garo Hills have decided to put pressure on the government as they are facing problems due to the delay in releasing the pending salary for two months besides pending arrears from 2016-17.
The association added that NIOS has notified that the D.El.Ed. 2nd year admission fees have to be cleared before July 7 and it is not possible to pay their fees if the state government continues to ignore their demands.
