KSU to pressure govt to check influx

Nongpoh: KSU, North Khasi Hills unit has vowed to continue their fight in protecting the rights of the indigenous tribals of the state including the long pending demands of implementing the comprehensive mechanism, setting of entry and exit points to tackle unabated influx, said Ferdynald Kharkamni at a meeting at Sajer, Nongpoh on Sunday. The KSU unit of the district which elected the new office bearers on Sunday also warned the government against resuming construction of railway in the state as long as their pending demands of setting up of the entry and exit points to tackle influx are not met.
The union felicitated former members, Mutkansing Sancley and Elfin Umlong and observed a two- minute silence in memory of two former members, who passed away recently.
The meeting was attended by top leaders of the union which include president Lambokstarwell Marngar, general secretary Donald Thabah and others. Members of HNYF, FKJGP also attended the event.
Other elected members are Elexius Narleng, vice president, Lambok Rymbai, general secretary among others.
