SHILLONG: Shillong police have arrested one person from Uttar Pradesh in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old nurse in the city.

Earlier, police had arrested one person for his involvement in the murder of the nurse Leiyaton Soro from Nazareth Hospital in Shillong.

East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak on Monday told reporters that a team of Shillong police arrested the co-accused  from Uttar Pradesh and he had been brought to Shillong  and produced in the court on Monday.

Marak said that as per the first accused who was arrested earlier, they wrapped the body of Leiyaton Soro in a cartoon box  of refrigerator  after killing her with chloroform.

As both the accused were working in an electrical shop, they used the cartoon box so that people wouldn’t suspect them

The duo later took the body to the area near the Ryndangbriew viewpoint and dumped it and later they tore the cartoon into pieces near Polo side

Marak said that the first accused who was arrested earlier was putting the blame of the murder on the  co-accused and police would record the statement of the co-accused to corroborate the statement

“It appears to be a bloodless murder and we will close the case very soon,” he said.

Soro’s body was found at Ryndangbriew viewpoint at Umiam on May 29 last.
