As soon as the officials of the   Directorate of Land Records and Survey , Municipal  and    Hima Mylliem  reached the location for the survey, quite a number of women residents of the colony gathered at the petrol pump  located in the colony with placard reading as  “We protest  the Government’s move  against the Punjabi Harijan Colony“, “ We oppose the High Level Committee’s move to relocate the Punjabi Harijan Colony” .

However, there was no interference and disturbance to the survey from any quarters and the survey went on smoothly , adding the survey would continue on Thursday

Quite a number of police personnel, magistrates and other Government officials were also present during the survey.

Director, Land Record And Survey, I Mawlong, while speaking to the reporters on the spot said that  they would finish the   survey within  2-3  days  and they would submit their report to the High Level Committee.

She added that the department would conduct the survey in the colony while the Hima Mylliem    and the Shillong Municipal Board would identify their respective lands in the colony.

It may be mentioned that the High Level Committee (HLC) on relocation of residents of Punjabi Lane (Iew Mawlong),  had directed the Directorate of Land Records and Survey to complete the land survey in the colony within  ten days

Once the Committee get the report, it will sit again for further action in the matter

The fresh land survey of the area was required to have clarity since one portion of the land belongs to the Shillong Municipal Board and another to the Hima Mylliem.
