TURA: The body of a 19-year-old girl who went missing several days ago has been recovered by South West Garo Hills Police from a jungle at Tislakura Village of the same district. Tislakura village falls under Mahendraganj Police Station.
The victim, Reena Barman first went missing on the night of June 13 and a missing report was filed by relatives the next day, on June 14. A search was launched by the police and her decomposed body was discovered by police on Tuesday night, from a jungle barely one and a half kilometers away from her place of residence at Barmanpara, Majerchar under Mahendraganj police station. Police were able to identify the body by the clothes she was wearing.
“We discovered the body on Tuesday night. However, due to difficulties posed by darkness it was left under guard overnight and recovered on Wednesday morning. Post mortem was conducted at the site after which, the body was handed over to the family members,” District Superintendent of Police Bobby Momin said.
The report of the post mortem is still awaited. In the meantime, a case of kidnapping and murder has been registered by police and investigation into the crime is on.
