SHILLONG: Dr Animesh Mishra, head of Cardiology department, NEIGRIHMS has justified the protest of six resident doctors from Wednesday to address their various grievances.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mishra said that among other issues, the strike is due to different guidelines related to submission of theses and holding of examinations.
He said cancellation of allotment of quarters is another issue for the three-day strike.
The six resident doctors did not attend classes on Wednesday and the OPD was affected by the strike.
Mishra clarified that the date related to the examination for the Doctorate of Medicine is first decided by NEIGRIHMS and then the decision is intimated to NEHU. Mishra also pointed out that as many as 28 memorandums were sent to the concerned authorities to address the various grievances, but in vain.
“Another cause of concern is that the RTI queries are not replied as per the rules”, Mishra added.
