SHILLONG: To strengthen the demand for Mawsynram Civil Sub Division, a committee called Mawsynram Civil Sub Division Demand Committee headed by Congress MLA HM Shangpliang, was constituted at a meeting on Saturday.
The meeting was held to discuss on the pressing demand to upgrade Mawsynram Community and Rural Development Block to Civil Sub-Division.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shangpliang said there has been the demand for a Civil Sub-Division for the last 20 years and the committee will follow up on the demand.
According to Shangpliang, the state government should not upgrade to any Civil Sub-Division only for political gain but to upgrade C & RD Block to Civil Sub-Division as per the requirements of the public.
On the other hand, he has urged the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MDC of Mawsynram, PN Syiem to join in the demand for Civil Sub Division and to lay aside political differences.
