AMPATI: South West Garo Hills district has claimed to have created a record of sorts by achieving 100 percent coverage in immunisation of children and pregnant mothers during the third round of Special Intensified Mission Indradhanush (SIMI) under Grameen Swaraj Abhiyan which concluded on June 22.
It may be recalled that the district achieved 99.3 percent immunisation coverage of the target beneficiaries during the second round of the campaign. During the third round the target beneficiaries were 51 children in the age group of 0-2 years and three pregnant mothers, who were all covered successfully in 21 sessions.
“Prior visits before the immunisation, counselling sessions and meeting with mothers conducted by supervisors and workers helped to a great extent in bringing about the achievement”, said SDH&MO and DIO, Ampati, Dr. Calvaryn K. Sangma.
It may also be mentioned that the district health team left no stone unturned to ensure that all the target beneficiaries in every corner of the district were covered through house to house visits. Due to the consistent efforts of the district team many of the villages in the district have also been motivated to participate in health programmes in their areas.
