NONGPOH: Officials of the non-functional Trauma Center of Nongpoh Civil Hospital could not provide the status report of the center when Health Minister, AL Hek made an inspection on Monday.
The officials of the CHC were informed in advance about the visit. The officials said they will soon submit the status reports and other requirements to the minister.
The local legislator of Nongpoh, Mayralborn Syiem initiated the inspection so that the center can be utilised by the public at the earliest. Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner, RM Kurbah was also present during the visit.
The trauma center is yet to be made functional even as the building was completed ten years back with most of the equipments in place.
During the inspection, the minister went through the legal documents and status reports of the building and also the equipment which had been installed at the centre.
Addressing media persons after the inspection, Hek said, though the building for the trauma centre is completed, lack of manpower and equipment has delayed its inauguration.
He also informed that the inspection was done to check the status of the center so that the state government takes initiative on the lack of manpower, adding that the center also requires other equipment in order to make it fully operational.
Replying to the queries over the non-functioning of the blood bank in Nongpoh Civil Hospital, the authority concerned informed that the blood bank could not be made operational due to the lack of manpower.
The blood bank will be made operational once manpower requirement is met, they added.
Syiem expressed his happiness over the initiative taken by the health minister for inspecting the trauma centre and also expressed hope that the minister will take immediate step to make it fully operational for the benefit of the public.
