GUWAHATI: Three persons were reported dead on Wednesday as seven districts remain affected by the first wave of floods in Assam with the Jia Bhoroli in central Assam’s Sonitpur district flowing above danger level.

The flood bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority here said several areas in seven districts – Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Charaideo, Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj – lie submerged by the deluge.

As on Wednesday, 68,274 people in 144 villages remain affected by the floods. Upper Assam and central Assam districts have been affected because of heavy rainfall in the area and parts of neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.
