Agriculture min discusses farmers’ issues in Delhi

SHILLONG: State Agriculture Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh discussed the challenges faced by farmers in Meghalaya with Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Radha Mohon Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Speaking over the phone, Lyngdoh said he apprised the Union minister of the difficulties faced by farmers who are deprived of availing benefits under farm related schemes.
“There were discussions on ways and means to uplift the condition of the farmers and the different kinds of agricultural produces in the state.”
“We also held thorough discussions on the need for organic farming for both agriculture and horticulture,” he said.
Lyngdoh also informed that he convinced Singh to visit the state after July 15 to monitor the agricultural development.
