SHILLONG: Relatives and friends of the Rapsang family handed over the driver of Rishan Rapsang to the police on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the attack on his employer.
Mike Pakyntein, a family friend, told reporters that soon after the incident, a message was circulated on WhatsApp that said “anybody who gives information about the attacker will be rewarded Rs 1 lakh”.
Soon, a friend of Pakyntein, Rishan Nongsiej got a call regarding the alleged role of Bahdeng.
According to Pakyntein, on Wednesday morning, they left for the factory of Rishan Rapsang in Umiam and Bahdeng was picked up from his quarter.
“The person whom we picked up said he was involved in the incident whereas the suspect said he did not receive the cash and he was supposed to get the stolen money in a few days,” Pakyntein said, adding that according to the suspect, another two to three persons are involved.
When asked if Bahdeng was involved in the attack, he said it’s up to the police to investigate it.
Police have also detained four other suspects.
Attempts were made to contact SP City on the matter but there was no response.
