SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has downplayed the threat of PDF Chief, PN Syiem to move out of the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government

Talking to media persons here on Friday, Conrad Sangma said that the Government and its coalition partners were committed   and the Government was very much stable as all the PDF MLAs were with the government.

“I had personally spoken  with all the PDF MLAs. They have given their commitment to remain with the present coalition,” he said.

The Chief Minister however maintained that there was an issue within Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) which needed be sorted out at the council  level itself.

The PDF leader, P N Syiem is the Chief Executive Member of KHADC

“It will not be correct on my part to comment anything on the development in the District Council and the internal matter of any party but the same thing is going on in the JHADC where the UDP had formed the Executive Committee with the support of the Congress,” Sangma said.

On the other hand, People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MLA from Mawkynrew constituency, Banteidor Lyngdoh said that there was no plan on the part of the party to withdraw its support from the ruling alliance immediately .

“During the meeting on Thursday, the three MLAs of the party were of view that it was not the right time to pull out from the government. We have expressed the same views to the PDF chairman Pynshngain N Syiem,” Lyngdoh who is also the Minister in the Government told reporters.

He also said that the MLAs of the party would again meet since Urban Affairs Minister, Hamletson Dohling could not attend the meeting since he was in Jowai.
