SHILLONG: The High Level Committee (HLC) is likely to meet next week to deliberate on the reports of the land survey and the inventory survey of the Them Iew Mawlong (Sweepers’ Colony).

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong   who is heading the committee   on Saturday told reporters that the preparation of the reports by the Directorate of Land Records and Survey and also by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) was in the final stage.

“We are hopeful that the two reports would give some kind of direction to the committee to move ahead in suggesting a permanent solution to the long pending issue,” Tynsong said.

When asked about the residents of  the colony not cooperating during the inventory survey conducted by  Shillong Municipal Board, he said that he would not like to comment anything since he was yet to receive the report from the SMB.

It may be mentioned the HLC shall examine all relevant records and documents relating to the relocation of residents of the Sweeper Colony, Sweeper Lane, Mawlong Haat.

The committee shall also recommend practically feasible solution(s) for relocation of the said sweeper colony residents.
