NONGPOH: Following the brutal killing of a Karbi youth in Ri Bhoi, the Dorbar Shnong of Narbong and its adjacent villages in Byrnihat, had unanimously resorted to shutter down of different business establishments to condemn the heinous act and also to put pressure on the Police Department to take stern action against the culprits involved.
The local Dorbar of Narbong apart from closing down their business establishments in the loality had also held a public meeting as part of condolence toward the bereaved family.
According to the information received, Ramu Ingti (32) of Narbong went missing since July 4 afternoon. The anxious family members then informed the village authority who then launched a search operation in the area, but it was the very next day that the family members received a phone call from Dilip Boro who claimed to had kidnapped Ingti and threatened to kill him. The relatives along with the village authority lodged an FIR at Byrnihat Police Outpost to nab the culprit.
The kidnapper had also threatened with dire consequences against the relatives, friends of Ramu Ingti and also Medhi Ronghang, the local Rangbah Shnong of Narbong.
The police immediately launched a manhunt to capture the culprits, however, on July 7 the kidnapper surrendered himself and also claimed that he had killed Ingti. The kidnappers dumped the body at Gorchuk in Assam.
The body has been recovered.
Soon, after the surrender of Dilip Boro (45) of Amingoan, Assam, who is the prime accused the police managed to nab another two persons who were allegedly involved in the crime identified as Ranjan Daimary (29) of Tongla, Udalgiri and Bedsung Basumatry (30) of Galasuba, Assam.
Police also suspects the involvements of few more people in the crime, the further investigation is on.
Local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and MDC Artis Rani, extended their condolences to the bereaved family and also pressed on the police department to take stern action against the culprit who are involved in killing of innocent live.
Sohtun also advised the village authority to formed Village Defence Party to safeguard the village and also urged for unity in the area.
