MAWKYRWAT: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday inaugurated the Ranikor civil sub-division.
The inauguration of the sub-division was linked to the resignation of MM Danggo from the Congress and his joining the NPP. However, Danggo will join the NPP later.
The sub-division was inaugurated in the presence of Home Minister James K. Sangma, Health Minister AL Hek, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, seven MLAs and Chairman of the Ranikor Civil Sub-Division Demand Committee, Kitborlang Nongrem.
Addressing the gathering, Tynsong said the civil sub-division will function from a temporary office building of the PWD (Roads), Ranikor Division, till a new building is constructed and the government is committed to bringing all the department branches to Ranikor in the coming years.
“Ranikor is the most deserving area in the whole state to be upgraded to a civil sub-division,” Tynsong said, adding that the government is still examining all the memoranda submitted by representatives of different areas demanding civil sub-divisions or districts.
Hailing Danggo for his hard work and sacrificing his post as MLA to get the civil sub-division, Tynsong said, “Today I saw the smiling faces of all the people here. I will tell you one thing whether you like it or not, this happened because of one person, MM Danggo. He is the one responsible to get the Ranikor civil sub-division and therefore he is the man of Ranikor civil sub-division.”
According to Tynsong, to get the civil sub-division is not easy, but costly as Danggo had to resign from the post of MLA.
“He told me in tears that he has to resign because he wanted to see the speedy functioning of the sub-division. He is a great person that Ranikor area has ever produced,” Tynsong said. Health Minister AL Hek said, “Danggo is the Man of the Match, the Raja of Ranikor because he is the one responsible to get the civil sub-division by leaving his comfort zone for the benefits of the people of the area. Therefore, I request all of you to work together with the government and especially with this Raja of Ranikor so that development can be brought to this area.”
Addressing the gathering, Danggo slammed those who criticised him for resigning as MLA.
“The critics asked why I had to resign as an MLA just because of the civil sub-division and my answer is, it is because of you my dear Ranikor. In politics, if you do good you will be criticised and if you do bad also, you will be criticised, then why can’t I do what I like. It is up to the people to judge,” Danggo said. Danggo said even if people of Ranikor did not re-elect, he will not be hurt since he had fulfilled his dream of bringing the civil sub-division to Ranikor. “Earlier, I had said that if we get the civil sub-division, I will not stand for election again but now I have to contest to show respect to the chief minister for giving us the civil sub-division,” Danggo said.
