SHILLONG: As a follow-up to recent NDPS case in Jowai where eight persons including the kingpin S. Siangjathang Zou were arrested for drug trafficking in which 67,000 WY Meta Amphetamine tablets were seized, Anti Narcotic Task Force, West Jaintia Hills on Friday arrested two more persons.

West Jaintia Hills SP, Vivek Syiem said that the arrested persons have been identified as Shah Alam Majumdar, and  Gulab Wajid, both residents of Natun Ramnagar Part IV Dakshin Silchar, Cachar who are part of the trafficking chain.

He said that the duo had come to Jowai to help out the eight arrested persons to secure bail.

“The reason being that the drug supply chain has been disrupted following the arrest of the eight persons who procure Meta Amphetamines and heroin from Myanmar and supply huge quantities to vendors like them. The two vendors then distribute the narcotics to middle level suppliers,” Syiem said.

One Wagon R without registration plate and without documents has also been seized from them and they will be produced before the Special Judge (NDPS) West Jaintia Hills on Saturday for police remand for further investigation.
