SHILLONG: NPP president WR Kharlukhi will write to the political parties to extend support to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who will seek mandate of the people from South Tura.
BJP leader and Cabinet Minister AL Hek said the letter is expected to reach various political parties soon.
Hek said personally, he wanted the party and others to support the chief minister.
However, he added that it was up to the party leadership to take a final decision on the matter.
Hek reminded that in the last Assembly polls, BJP candidate Billykid Sangma secured second position.
South Tura legislator Agatha Sangma recently quit the post to pave way for his brother to contest the by-poll.
Conrad will have to get elected by September 6.
