Diptayan wins FIDE chess tournament

GUWAHATI: Grand Master Diptayan Ghosh clinched the title of 2nd International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament which concluded at Desbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan auditorium here on Friday.
Ghosh was awarded a trophy and prize money of Rs 50,000.
Other than the champion, the top five players are Muthiah Al of Tamil Nadu, FM Sai Agni Jeevitesh J of Telengana, CM Aronyak Ghosh and GM Saptarshi Roy Chaudhary.
Events were held in categories such as best Assam, best Guwahati, best Northeast and in the under-7, 9,11, 13, 15 and 17 years. The best female and  unrated players were also awarded.
