Sindhu enters semi-finals

BANGKOK: Indian ace shuttler PV Sindhu entered the semi-finals of the Thailand Open after thrashing Malaysia’s Soniia Cheah in the quarter-finals here on Friday.
Sindhu, the number two seed, thrashed Cheah in straight sets 21-17, 21-13 finishing the game in just 26 minutes. The first game was a close contest, but Sindhu ended it by a brilliant forehand smash winning the first game. In the second game, the Olympic silver medallist stood at her best and left no room and overpowered her opponent with six stright points to emerge victorious.
Earlier, Sindhu had beaten Pui Yin Yip in the pre-quarters by a 21-16, 21-14 margin. (UNI)
