In his brief address to the Rotarians gathered on the occasion, the Governor, Ganga Prasad hoped that the newly-inducted president for Rotarian Year 18-19 will continue to do the good work which the Rotary Club has been doing for last many years.

“ The work which you ( Rotary Club) is doing, it is important for humanity and your works have contributed a lot for the society in Shillong,” he said   while lauding the Club for taking the initiative of organizing Rotary Sohra Marathon which will attract large number of tourists and runners to the state

Stating that the Central Government is paying a lot of attention to the North Eastern states to improve its economy, he further urged the Rotary Club to play a pivotal role in the development of the  region which has huge potential.

Asserting that the  local turmeric in Meghalaya has huge benefits and is one of the best, he also informed that now there are plans to increase the turmeric production in the state from existing 12000 metric tones to 50000  metric tones.
