SHILLONG: Meghalaya government is contemplating to inaugurate a state-of-the -art diagnostic centre in the capital city of Shillong.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Laitkor Health Sub centre on Saturday, Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek said that the said that the Government has identified two places for the project including the Pasteur Institute in Shillong.
Hek was also full of praise for the Megha Health Insurance Scheme ( MHIS) saying the scheme was helping the people to a great extent particularly the poor people.
He said that the insurance cover under the MHIS scheme as of now is Rs 2.8 lakhs and the Government is contemplating to increase it to Rs 5 lakhs
Citing an example, he said the medical bill of a 14 –year-old girl who underwent treatment in a city Hospital was 1.94 lakhs and she received benefits of around Rs 90000 from the MHIS.
Local MLA, and chairman of the State Planning Board and local residents were also present on the occasion.
