SHILLONG: Health and Welfare Minister AL Hek has proposed the setting up of state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre in a government hospital in Shillong.
He was speaking at the inauguration of a Health Sub-Centre at Laitkor Rngi on Saturday. The Health Sub-Centre will fall under Smit PHC.
At the programme, Hek also lauded the implementation of the Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) as the scheme has helped a number of people especially those from poor background.
On the same day, he also gifted Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malniang a bicycle to promote healthy lifestyle by not using vehicles.
Leonard Arun Mawrie, the chairman of Dorbar Laitkor Pyllun, said the inauguration of the Health Sub – Centre is blessing as it has been delayed for the last 12 years.
“The Health Sub – Centre will be beneficial for the residents who do not have the necessary finances to go to Shillong or Smit for treatment,” he said.
Meanwhile, B Mawlong, Director of Health Service (DHS) (MI) said the Health Sub Centre would house two Auxiliary nurse midwife (ANM) and one chowkidar.
