SHILLONG: The ruling NPP is jubilant since all the three autonomous district councils (ADCs) are governed by the party. After NPP came to power, there was a change first in GHADC followed by JHADC and finally KHADC. In fact, all the three district councils were ruled by the Congress when it was in power till 2017.
NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said it is a blessing that the party is ruling all the three district councils.
An NPP leader said it will help in better coordination between the ADCs and the government. “There are times when the councils and the government come into conflict but if the same party is ruling both the bodies, frictions are reduced,” the party leader said.
