Jowai Municipal evicts hawkers from footpath

JOWAI: The District Administration, West Jaintia Hills along with police and officials of the Jowai Municipal Board evicted over hundreds of hawkers along the footpath in Iawmusiang on Monday.
The district administration had from time to time, conducted such eviction drive to free the footpath in the market area. However, vendors selling vegetables in particular, continuously encroach on the footpath. People are forced to walk on the road putting them in danger. The district police also deputed its personnel to keep a check on encroachment of vendors.
