SHILLONG: The state government is yet to discuss and deliberate on the common minimum programme (CMP) of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance even as more than two months have elapsed since it was submitted.
Deputy chief minister, Prestone Tynsong however assured the CMP would be discussed shortly, saying it would be first taken up at the coordination committee before the government approves it.
There is emphasis on the education sector in the CMP and it focuses on, among others, quality teachers and improving teaching of Science and Mathematics.
The draft also wants the “revamp of MBoSE”.
Besides, the draft seeks employability in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fishery sectors.
It also suggests setting up music and sports academies to tap young talents in the state.
It may be mentioned that the coordination committee comprises leaders from all the political parties supporting the MDA government.
It is learnt that the CMP was submitted to the secretary of the coordination committee and now it depends on the government as to how it goes about it.
