SHILLONG: The BJP central leadership is not keen to put up any candidate for South Tura by-poll since Chief Minister Conrad Sangma is contesting from the seat.
BJP leader from Garo Hills KC Boro said on Thursday that during the Lok Sabha poll committee meeting held in Imphal last month, BJP national president Amit Shah was of the opinion that it should support Conrad.
Boro said after he raised the matter in the presence of other BJP leaders, the central leaders wanted to extend support to Conrad.
To a question, Boro said the former BJP candidate from South Tura, Billykid Sangma, who came second in the February 27 Assembly polls, may cooperate with NPP during the by-poll.
