SHILLONG: Former Congress leader and veteran politician Rowell Lyngdoh has said the contest for Ranikor seat has become more interesting after the entry of PN Syiem into the fray but NPP’s Martin M Danggo has an edge over other candidates.
Speaking to The Shillong Times recently, Lyngdoh said UDP has a strong candidate and Danggo knows how to handle situations. He also said leaders of some parties are likely to support Syiem’s candidature.
He also made it clear that as an NPP leader he would support the NPP candidate in the elections.Though elections are yet to be formally announced, parties in the state have started their groundwork for the by-poll.
The by-poll in Ranikor is necessitated after Danggo left the Congress and also resigned from the post of MLA after the NPP-led MDA government upgraded the administrative block into a civil sub division.
