Cesar Ferrando appointed Head Coach of Jamshedpur FC
JAMSHEDPUR: Cesar Ferrando has been appointed as the new head coach of Jamshedpur Football Club. Cesar had an extremely successful stint in his last assignment with Spanish Club, La Nucia. He has managed teams such as Atletico de Madrid, Valencia B, Elche, Albacete (La Liga & Segunda Division Clubs). Cesar also possesses experience in coaching an Asian team with his stint in Malaysia where he managed Johur Darul Takzim F.C. in 2013-14. During his player career, Cesar plied his trade as a midfielder and represented top Spanish clubs such as Valencia, Salamanca, Sabadell, Alzira (La Liga & Segunda Division Clubs). Jamshedpur Football Club Director Sunil Bhaskaran was elated at the announcement on Friday and said, “We are delighted to welcome Cesar Ferrando to Jamshedpur FC. We are extremely confident that he is the right person for the job and will work to deliver trophies for our fans and bring glory to Jamshedpur. (UNI)

Sprinter Anas sets new record
PRAGUE: India’s star sprinter Muhammed Anas reset the national record on his way to the gold medal in the men’s 400 metre category at the Cena Noveho Mesta nad Metuji meet here on Saturday. Anas clocked a time of 45.24 seconds to break his own record of 45.31, set at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia earlier this year where he finished fourth. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) took to social media to congratulate Anas. (IANS)

Figure skater stabbed to death
ALMATY: Kazakhstani figure skater Denis Ten, who was the first-ever to win a bronze medal at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, was stabbed to death by unknown miscreants here on Friday. Ten was involved in a dispute when two men attempted to steal his car mirrors. While resisting, he was repeatedly stabbed, leaving him in a pool of blood, CNN quoted Kazakh news agency Kazinform. (ANI)
