SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) State youth wing condemned the summon issued by the state police department to the vice president of KHNAM youth wing, Iengskhem Suting with regard to the agitation at Them Metor.

In a statement issued here, the president of the state youth wing of KHNAM, Thomas Passah said the summons to local tribals and organisations by the state police was an attempt to create a sense of fear.

He claimed there were photographs of illegal settlers of Them Metor who carried swords and weapons at a time when 144 CrPC was imposed.

He added, “Yet we did not see the state government arrest the people. Instead, the government is searching others. This partisan nature is not acceptable.”

Passah asserted that the state government should devote its time to discussion on how to relocate the illegal settlers to ensure safety and security returns to the state.
