MAWKYRWAT: More supporters of other political parties have joined the United Democratic Party Ranikor Circle to support Pius Marwein in the upcoming Ranikor by-poll.
Rolling Wanniang, president of the UDP Mawpud primary unit, informed that on July 20, the party held a meeting in the village in which supporters of BJP, PDF and NPP from Mawpud and Lower Mawpud joined the party.
“With the joining of these supporters, UDP is hoping to defeat five-time MLA and NPP candidate MM Danggo,” Wanniang said, adding that party supporters in Mawpud are united and strong.
Wanniang also claimed that during the meeting, supporters of BJP, PDF and NPP revealed that they have taken the decision to shift to UDP because they know that the PDF candidate and former CEM of KHADC, PN Syiem, will not be able to win.
The meeting was attended by Marwein and president of the UDP Ranikor Circle GG Bung Snaitang, among others.
