Construction of sporting facilities of 2022 Natl Games to begin by year end

SHILLONG: The construction works for the sporting infrastructure including stadiums and game village  for the 2022 National Games will begin  this year.

Informing this here on Tuesday, Sports Minister,    Banteidor Lyngdoh said that they were hoping that the construction work for  the stadium and game village at New Shillong Township would begin by November-December this year.

Reiterating that the land bank committee has identified 300  acres of Government land for construction of stadium and game villages besides some private land as well, the Minister added that the ground work for hosting the event successfully had begun

“We are confident that we can host the event in the most satisfied way,” he said while informing that the all the sporting infrastructures for the major event will be completed within  3  years time.

The minister also informed that the mega sporting event can be conducted at a  total budget of around Rs  2000  crores and the government would also have to contribute from its sources besides seeking assistance from the Union Government.
