4 CAPF cos to be used in South Tura

SHILLONG: Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Kharkongor said on Tuesday that four companies of the Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) would be required for the Tura by-poll scheduled for August 23.
Kharkongor held a meeting with police officials as part of poll preparedness.
One company of CAPF will be deployed for counting and surveillance teams will also be set up as part of the security plan.
Kharkongor said the meeting with police authorities also discussed strict enforcement of model code of conduct.
In the meeting, vulnerability mapping, critical polling stations, deployment plan, daily law and order reports were also discussed.
Out of 36 polling stations, 18 have been categorised as vulnerable and one as critical.
Earlier in the day, a video conference was convened by Kharkongor and his team met the district election machinery of West Garo Hills to discuss and gear up for electoral preparedness with particular reference to model code of conduct, training on EVMs and other logistic issues.
