SHILLONG: Though the BJP has decided to support Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is seeking mandate from South Tura, the party will contest the Ranikor by-poll.
The decision assumes significance as both PDF and UDP had claimed support of BJP members.
Ajay Jamwal, the BJP general secretary in-charge of organisation in North East Zone, along with the BJP state leaders met the chief minister on Tuesday.
While the party will support NPP in South Tura, the BJP state core committee unanimously decided to send the report in this regard to the central authorities for a further road map.
Earlier, Jamwal asked the BJP members to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
The party MLAs also decided to be available in the party office at least once in a week.
