Salary hike for teachers

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to enhance the grant in aid for government and non government pre-primary school teachers to Rs 12000 per month.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that there are 710 teachers at the pre-primary level and the government has been extended the grant in aid to the teachers since 2012.
The revised grant in aid will be implemented from August 1.
With the revise in the grant in aid, the government will incur an additional burden of over Rs 5 crore per annum.
