Claims and objection forms to be submitted on July 30
Shillong: The Deputy Commissioner of Supply, East Khasi Hills District, has informed that households in Urban and Rural Areas are to submit their claims and objection forms under NFSA through the headmen of their respective localities. This does not apply to households who have already submitted their claims and objection forms under NFSA and those families whose names have appeared on the Non-NFSA list. Incomplete forms will be rejected. All headmen are requested to collect the forms from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Supply, East Khasi Hills District. The last date of submission will be on July 30.
Umroi MLA asks VECs to promote MGNREGS
NONGPOH: Umroi MLA George Lyngdoh said here on Thursday that village employment councils (VECs) and job cardholders should “fully operate” the MGNREG scheme in their respective villages for uplifting the socio-economic lives of locals. Speaking at the first conference of VECs organised by the Ri Bhoi District Rural Development Agency, Lyngdoh said, “NREGS is one of the opportunities to create employment, particularly for youths.” Lyngdoh announced that Ri Bhoi is the only district in the state that has been selected as an “aspirational district” in India. He urged the VECs and job cardholders to make all efforts to achieve the 100-day guaranteed wages for their benefit.
Labourers working at KHADC do not have licences, says War
SHILLONG: Executive Member in charge of Labour Neil Antonio War on Thursday informed members of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) that non-tribal labourers working at the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) did not possess any labour licence. In a surprising revelation, the 15 non-tribals who claimed to hail from Assam said that they did not possess the required documents. These labourers who were working under local contractor Kitbok Warbah claimed that he had taken the responsibility of preparing the documents for them. The HYC members have in the past, urged the KHADC to constantly check the labour licences of non-tribals.
Non-tribal apprehended for running illegal shop
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya People’s United Front-East Jaintia Hills District (MPUF-EJHD) on Thursday apprehended a non-tribal who was allegedly running an illegal shop at Lad Rymbai. The organisation stated that the non-tribal in question was running a shop that specialised in refilling empty gas cylinders which is also a danger to neighbouring shops. The organisation added that non-tribals do not have the licence to refill gas cylinders and suspected that the person did not possess one. “The Jaintia Hills District Council is toothless when it comes to dealing with non-tribals. On our part, we will complain to the DC Supply of East Jaintia Hills,” it said.
