SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills police have intensified the security cover over the city following some incidents in South West Khasi Hills.
The security beef-up is despite the improved law and order two months after the city erupted in protests over relocation of the settlers at Them Iew Mawlong.
More security men could be seen in parts of the city since Friday. When asked, East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said the situation in the city has definitely improved but police are keeping a close watch.
He said some incidents have taken places in South West Khasi Hills district and police do not want it to flare up and hence security has been intensified in the city. Besides, there were some meetings and police did not want to take chances.
