DC issues order on sale of PA systems

TURA: In compliance with the direction of the National Green Tribunal, Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkatta, the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, has issued an order that the sale of Public Audio and other sound system shall not be permitted without the sale of sound limiter as a compulsory accessory.

Under the order, all the service providers letting out audio systems are required to fit the systems with sound limiters to limit emission of sound to the permissible decibel and it should be subjected to inspection by the Police authorities and the State Pollution Control as per Law. Further, all shops dealing with sale of public audio systems will not be permitted to sell instruments without sound limiters as a compulsory accessory.

Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police has also been instructed to make necessary arrangements to carry out inspections of shops selling public audio systems so as to ensure that items without sound limiters are not sold.
